ABOUT HEIDI
My path is deeply shaped by the local Elders and knowledge keepers who mentor me and I’m incredibly grateful to co-facilitate yoga, community wellness and reconciliation programs alongside them whenever possible.
As a recreation therapist, yoga is often part of my clinical work, layering trauma-informed movement and meditation as part of stroke rehabilitation and intensive outreach with addiction and mental health.
I’m a 500-hour trained vinvasa yoga teacher, studying with Shonna Lamb, Kendall Bowes (Flow State), Erin Evans and Lydia Zamarano (The Current Community). I am AFLCA certified, a member of Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association and a trauma informed facilitator. I am also certified to guide Yoga Nidra (Sarah Harvey), Wall Yin, Meditation (Agni Yoga School, Yoga Nidra and Wall Yin. I am trained with the Prison Yoga Project and offer yoga to people who are incarcerated. I love training other professionals to bring yoga poses, breath and mindfulness into their own work.
I find joy in creating a soft place for us to gather, move and call our spirits home. I can’t wait to meet you on the mat!
MY MISSION
As a teacher, I will try my hardest to keep you safe.
I will ask you to dig deep, do your best and take what you need.
I will share my love of yoga and how it has changed me.
My experience is one of healing, connection and wisdom seeking.
If I can teach you anything it is to show up and open your heart, even a little.
As a teacher, I will believe in you. I will encourage you to arrive without expectation, comparison and shame.
I will encourage you to refine the mantra “I am enough”.
I hope to instill in you a belief that your heart is unique and worth the journey to know and share.
Keep in mind, my experience is mine, sacred to me, a story unfolding.
If I can teach you anything, it is that you are as powerful as lightning and as worthy as the mountains exactly as you are.
